October Fun

Well, it's been way too long since I've updated the blog. So much has happened so quickly. I can't believe how quickly time flies when you're enjoying life.

Daniel is growing like a weed! He's so big and he's really stretching out, just like Sarah did. The poor boy will never know what a fat roll is because he'll just stretch and stretch some more. I guess it is in the Resch genes because Jorda is way tall...then again I'm pretty tall for a girl too. I guess my kids get it from the two of us.

Sarah is adjusting to the life of big sisterhood really well. There are times she struggles with splitting Mommy's attention, but overall she's a real sport. I do try and make time for her and just her as well. I know how hard it is to go from 100% attention to 50% attention. But, we're doing really well and Sarah is very independent and plays with her toys by herself when my time is being occupied with Daniel.

I love October. One of the reasons is the smell of fall. I just love it. I also like the cooler days as well. Almost every day Sarah, Daniel and I walk to the park the "long" way which is about a mile or a little more. It's great to get out in the fresh fall air and walk. Daisy comes too and is very good about not pulling me too (as long as her gentle leader is on, anyway).

The second reason I love October is Halloween. I've been very busy making the kids costumes. Sarah is Cinderella this year and Daniel is going to be Gus-Gus. Sarah's costume is finished and I'm currently working on finishing Daniel's. If I have time I'll sew myself a Fairy Godmother costume. But, we'll just have to see how ambitious I really am.

The Pumpkin Walk is this week. Sarah, Jordan, Becca, and I went to the park to carve pumpkins for them to display around the Pumpkin Walk. Jordan's not into Halloween or decorating or anyting, but he was awesome and helped Sarah carve her pumpkin. He even enjoyed himself, I dare say. Nana watched Daniel while we went, I wasn't about to let him get chilled and sick.

Daniel Everett Resch

Little baby Daniel arrived at 7:04am weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz. on 09/15/10. He's so adorable! Everything went according to plan, which pleased me. Considering the horrible experience I had delivering Sarah it seemed like a breeze delivering Daniel.

My Mom and Jordan were there in the morning for the delivery. The hospital had both of them dress up in sanitary outfits, which I called "hazmat clothing." Both of them looked like scientists from a secret government facility. All they gave me was a hospital gown and a hoody, which I don't think was necessary, but the anthologist put one on me anyway when I made fun of Jordan and Mom.

When Daniel was born he was really quiet, but so was Sarah I thought. My Mom said her babies came out screaming to high heaven, but Daniel didn't cry at all till they started bathing him. Unlike with Sarah, Daniel stayed in the room with me and wasn't rushed off to the nursery. He was doing so well, there wasn't a need to take him away like they did Sarah. So Mom and Jordan were able to stay with me for the entire c-section. That was nice as well.

Later that day Sarah met her little baby brother. She was so excited to meet him. She rushed into my room and quickly introduced herself to Daniel. She kept saying, "That's a baby, Mama." I'm so glad Sarah likes her baby brother. Hopefully it stays that way for the rest of her life, too.

I got visits from Jordan's family on Wednesday afternoon. It was good to see them and they were able to hold Daniel for a little bit. Lunch made me really sick, so they ended up leaving shortly after. I don't blame them. I don't do well with anesthesia.

Fortunately by dinner I felt much better and was able to keep most of my meal, thanks to some miracle medicine the hospital gave me. Sarah saw her brother one more time that day and left with Nana to spend the night at the house.

On Friday I got a visit from my family in Logan. Auntie Becca, Auntie Liz, Grandpa, Sarah, and Nana all came to visit me. It was great to have so many come to support me during this new transition. Daniel is surely loved.

Overall, a great birthing experience.

Daniel looks a lot like Daddy, very little like Mommy, and a lot like his sister Sarah Marie. He's a very well mannered baby, doesn't cry too much, and lets me sleep for most of the night already! Last night I only woke up twice to feed him. Sarah didn't get to that point until she was about 5 months old. Of course I know there will be nights were sleep doesn't exist, like on Tuesday night when Daniel was up every 2 hours to eat, but overall he's a very, very good baby boy.

I'm still recovering from my c-section, but this go around I'm not in as much pain. I'm also very, very happy to have two beautiful children and a loving husband who is so willing to help me out. I'm not 100% normal yet, but give me another couple of weeks and I'll be back on my feet again. Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes.

Baby Day Plan...

So, the plan for delivery day is as follows...

I go in at 5am for the c-section. I deliver around 6:30am. I'll be hooked up to IV's and an epidural for some time afterwards and won't be able to move around in labor and delivery. At this point I'm only requesting Jordan and my mom to be there, please no visitors that morning. By mid afternoon (this is my guess) I'll be moved out of labor and delivery and into a recovery room.

Sarah will come sometime in the afternoon on Wednesday to see her new baby brother. I'm requesting only family to come that afternoon, not morning, if they are to visit and would like a phone call ahead of time so I'm prepared. I'll be in the hospital till Sunday, so any visitors are welcomed to come between Thursday and Sunday, I just request a phone call first. Since I'll be there for some time, I'll be listed in the Jordan Valley Hospital directory.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was great and very relaxing. My family all went to Bear Lake for the weekend, but I felt it was a little too far away from my doctor in case something happened with baby. So we decided to just spend time together in Logan as a family. It was great because I really felt like I got in some quality mommy time with Sarah before baby comes next week. I do want her to know how much I love and adore her and will not push her to the side once her baby brother arrives. I know it will be a hard adjustment for her, but I think she'll handle it with grace once she sees how cute her baby brother is and how much Mommy loves them both.

On Friday we celebrated Nana's birthday at my sister's house. It was fun getting together and visiting with Larry and Nola before they returned to California. We had a great BBQ and enjoyed giving our presents to Mom.

Saturday everyone headed off to Bear Lake, except us of course. We spent the evening together and went out to dinner. It has been a while since Jordan, Sarah, and I have gone to dinner alone without a group of others surrounding us. It was some great, and needed, family time. We then got some items for baby (wet wipes, baby powder, etc) that I'll need once baby is here.

We visited with my friend Ashley at her new home in Yorkshire development. It was fun getting together with her and her kids. Her little daughter, Kadence, is 2 months older than Sarah. So now Sarah has a new friend in Logan. Ashley just had a second little girl in May so both of our kids will be really close in age. That makes for a great play-date, I think. And both Sarah and Kadence warmed right up to each other and were laughing and giggling like they've known each other their entire life.

Sunday I had to drive back to SL for a doctor's appointment. Sarah stayed behind and went to church with Auntie Becca and Uncle Adam while Jordan and I returned to SL to repeat some tests. My doctor was on call that day, so he came in and checked on me. Everything looked fine and he sent me off to return to Logan for the remainder of the weekend.

Monday was cold, well, according to Jordan and Sarah. I thought it felt very nice outside. Anyway, we went to Elk Ridge Park up the street from my Mom's house and played for a little while. Daisy has been in recovery for the last several weeks since her ACL replacement surgery. I thought it was about time we got her out and walking and what better place to take both dog and kid than the park? Sarah enjoyed her time playing on the slides and Daisy even took a turn too.

Sarah's Auntie Liz was kind enough to take some fabulous pictures of Sarah Marie while we were at Cottonwood this year. Since we celebrated her third birthday there, I thought it'd be wise to have her pictures done there as well. Isn't my little princess beautiful?

Sarah's birthday Party in SL

Since we celebrated Sarah's 3rd birthday at Cottonwood with my family, we decided to celebrate Sarah's birthday in Salt Lake with Jordan's side of the family. It was a lot of fun. We had a hot dog roast and cake. Daddy, ie Jordan, made the cake and let Sarah chose what to put in it. Of course, my little choco-holic decided on M&M's. So she had a vanilla cake with chocolate bits in it. From what everyone told me, it was a good cake. I got to decorate the cake for her. That's my favorite part anyway. I made another princess cake, similar to the one I made for her at Cottonwood, and decorated it up. She loved it.

After cake, we opened presents. Sarah got some new crayons, a Cinderella crown, earrings, bracelet, and necklace, some sidewalk chalk, and a new bike (that one was from Mommy and Daddy). Uncle Robert also promised to get her "Hannah Montana the Movie" which I know Sarah will love.

It was great getting together and spending some family time. I still can't believe my little baby is three!!! Time sure flies!!

Cottonwood and Sarah's 3rd Birthday!

This year we spent Sarah's 3rd birthday at Cottonwood, my heaven on earth. What a lucky girl to be able to spend her birthday in the one place everyone feels so at peace at. We arrived at Cottonwood early Thursday afternoon with Nana. We managed, Jordan, Sarah, Nana, and I, to squeeze into the truck and bus together since Dad wasn't leaving for Cottonwood until Friday night. Once we arrived we quickly unpacked and Sarah went down for a nap (poor girl didn't get much time before she had to take her nap). When she woke up Liz, Mike, Abby, and Aiden had arrived.

Thursday was rainy and cold, but last year was certainly worse weather. By the time dinner came around it had stopped raining, but hadn't warmed back up again since the sun was setting. That evening after dinner Becca and Adam arrived.

Friday morning was a beautiful day, just breezy. But it kept the flies down, so no complaints here. We were able to go for a boat ride together and get some fishing in as well. Sarah made sure everyone on the boat was safe and wearing their lifejaket, even Uncle Adam was told he had to wear his lifejacket.

Even though it was really hard for me to get in and out of a boat, being 8 months pregnant, I did it for the sake of fishing. Jordan was wonderful and was always ready to help me so I wouldn't trip of fall into the water. I'm not a fan of the pontoon boat, aka tooney boat, but I got in it and went with the flow (just as long as NO ONE MOVED!). I wasn't about to become a frozen pregnant popcicle at the bottom of Cottonwood Lake. When I caught a fish, Sarah was nice enough to help me reel it in. She's such a helper!

Becca, Abby, and Sarah spent some time on the boat together, and with my camera, so they caught some cute pictures while Jordan and I were fishing.

On Friday we also went for a treasure hunt adventure. Abby had waited a long time for her treasure hunt and was very patient. Everyone joined and watched as the kids went on search for their treasure. Jordan helped Sarah walk around the cabin area and through the meadow just to make sure she wouldn't slip and fall. With as many tree roots there are as pine needles, someone was bound to trip and fall. Luckily on the treasure hunt no one did.

The boys played rounds and rounds of horeshoes and Jordan even won a game against Mike. Jordan also won Settlers of Catan against Mike so he has the bragging rights for the year now! Jordan isn't one to boast, but he will stand by his winnings. One game of horseshoes and one game of Settlers. He's pretty proud right now.

On Saturday we had the best weather of the trip. It was nice and sunny and not even breezy. To me it was hot, but to everyone else it was perfect. We fed the squirrel, went fishing, played more horseshoe games and also had a birthday party for Sarah (since it was that very day indeed). Sarah wanted a princess party, so I made sure to give her just want she asked for. She was so excited to see Ariel on her cake and also on her tablecloth. She made sure to tell everyone who Ariel was as well.

Sarah recived a large art eisle from Auntie Becca, Uncle Adam, Auntie Liz, Uncle Mike, Abby, and Aiden. She was so excited! She wanted to open it right then, but I told her she'd have to wait so we wouldn't lose any peices.

Sarah received a Bitty Baby from Nana and Grandpa who she named Rosie. She loves her little baby doll. She even told me when she was hungry and when it was time for little Rosie to take her nap. Sarah's very nurturing. She had a wonderful party with her cousins and Aunties and Uncles.

On Sunday it was time to go home. We stopped in Logan for lunch, and for a driving break, before heading back into Salt Lake. It was a grumbling 4 1/2 hour trip back home. But, we did it! It was worth the traffic and the grumbling just to be able to go to Cottonwood. I'm grateful we're able to go there every year. I hope to make it there at least twice next year!
